What is Wisconsin Community Media?
The members of Wisconsin Community Media (WCM) are media centers managed by local governments, school districts, colleges and non-profit organizations for the benefit of our local communities. We are independent producers who want our work seen more widely throughout the state. We are people who want to see local media outlets covering local stories thrive.
Our members have united to collaborate, educate, advocate, and share resources to build strong media centers and create responsive local programming for Wisconsin communities. We encourage the creation of local non-profit media production and distribution facilities where "everyday" people can produce programs about subjects that matter to them and to their communities.
WCM was established in 1998 and is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization. We have a sister organization called the WCM Program Fund that is a 501(c)(3) educational foundation whose mission is to bring producers, funders, and media makers together to produce relevant local programming for Wisconsin.
What is Your Monthly Community News?
Your Monthly Community News is designed to be an easy-to-digest promotion for community media that also informs our audience about issues relating to local media. Our goal is to make active supporters out of our audience! We have several regular sections:
Program of the Month Every issue showcases a program that airs on one of our 52 member media centers. Our purpose is to help people understand more fully what Public, Education, and Government Access Television (PEG) and LPFM Radio media centers contribute to their communities.
Producer of the Month Every issue also shines a spotlight on a producer, who could be an individual, a non-profit, or an agency that creates shows for community television or community radio.
News Briefs We publish short articles about what is happening around the state at our member media centers and promote major WCM events.
Work in Media We spread the word about the opportunities available at our local media centers.
Advertisements from our Sponsors We publish ads with clickable links from our sponsors. We have 4 different options. See below.
Circulation
Your Monthly Community News reaches not only WCM members, but also Alliance for Community Media members in the Midwest, state and federal legislators representing Wisconsin, local municipal government officials, and many more producers, businesses, non-profit organizations, PEG professionals, experts, and supporters we've gotten to know over the years.
Our newsletter goes to nearly 1,300 people interested in community media every month.
Monthly publishing dates
We publish Your Monthly Community News on the third Thursday of the month. Ads are due the Friday before we publish.
Your support means a lot to us
You'll be helping to support community media in Wisconsin and reach our community media audience with your message.
We estimate that each issue costs us about $500 to produce. Our goal is to raise enough advertising revenue in 2025 to make it self sustaining, or about $6,000.
Your contribution may be tax-deductible
If you want part of your ad payment to go to the WCM Program Fund, it will be tax-deductible since the WCM Program Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation. Please call us if you are interested in doing this and we can explain what portion of your payment can be deductible.

Send us your 1 x 1 image and a message and we'll create a 3 x 4 ad for you.
1 - 2 Months: $120/month

Simply send us a URL to an online article and we'll insert it in our newsletter using Constant Contact's feature that makes it easy to do!

Two Column Spread with Your Ad (1200 x 630)
Just send us your ad and we'll run it. You can change the ad at any time. Your image can include a clickable link.

Mix It Up!
You can support the newsletter every month by using different types of ads depending on your marketing goals. If you have a special event coming up or a special promotion, use the large size ad! Keep your company in front of our readers the other months with a smaller ad in other issues.
